Ruotuväki is the news magazine of the Finnish Defence Forces. The editorial staff consists mainly of conscripts who fill all key roles, including journalists, photographers, a digital producer, and a graphic designer. Applying for these specialized positions is voluntary, with selection based on interviews.

During my compulsory military service, I had the honor of serving as a designer for Ruotuväki. I handled layouts, illustrations, infographics, and photo retouching, collaborating with the editorial team on flatplanning and creating original artwork to give complex stories a relevant visual presentation.
